ERT Calls for Broad Public Endorsement of the Principles on Equality via
London, 11 November 2008
The launch of the Declaration of Principles on Equality, on 21 October
2008 in London, marked the beginning of a "Vote for Equality" campaign
for its universal recognition. The Declaration should become the basis
for a new covenant on equality in the 21st Century.
Today, The Equal Rights Trust calls for endorsements from individuals
and organisations who want to add their voice in support of the
Principles. You can easily see and endorse the Principles online – click
here: http://www.equalrightstrust.org/endorse/index.htm .
If equality matters to you, and you have not already endorsed the
Declaration, please take a moment to read it and if you agree with it,
add your signature to the growing group of prominent human rights and
equality advocates and ordinary people from around the world who have
registered their support.
The ERT website allows you to enter your name as a signatory, as well as
to send electronic links to the Declaration to others. On the pages
devoted to the "Vote for Equality" campaign, ERT will regularly provide
updates about this important human rights initiative. For example, you
can now read:
• What some of the signatories have said when endorsing the Declaration
• Sir Bob Hepple’s address at the launch of the Declaration
• Russian and Spanish language translations of the Declaration.
You can also order the document in a book format, containing the names
of the original 128 signatories and a legal commentary on the Principles
