This Mercator-newsletter informs you about the news from the three
Mercator-centres. Mercator Legislation is located at the CIEMEN
foundation in Barcelona, Mercator Media at the University of Wales in
Aberystwyth and the Mercator European Research Centre on Multilingualism
and Language Learning (the Mercator Research Centre for short) at the
Fryske Akademy in Ljouwert/Leeuwarden. It appears eleven times a year
and is linked to the internet sites of each Mercator-centre. For change

1 - 2 May 2008: Conference Cyfrwng 2008 in Aberystwyth, Wales (UK) is
aimed to analyse the ways in which Wales and similar societies are
responding to the challenges of convergence in a global context. The
conference title will be: “New Platforms: Convergence” 

15 - 23 July 2008: The 16th World Congress of the International Union of
Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (ICAES 2008) in Kunming City,
Yunnan Province, China

28 - 31 July 2008: The 1st International conference on Philology, i.e.
languages, literatures and linguistics. Organized by the Athens
Institute for Education and Research (AT.IN.E.R.)

25 – 27 September 2008: The 12th Conference of the Foundation for
Endangered Languages (FEL) “Endangered Languages and Language Learning”
in Ljouwert/Leeuwarden, the Netherlands

6 - 8 November 2008: 11th Eastern Caribbean Island Cultures Conference
“The Islands in Between” in Curaeao. Information regarding the
conference and call for papers available on the Islands In Between
