OPINIONS SPLIT ON MEANING OF NEAR-MURDER IN THE SYNAGOGUE 
In its roundup of reactions to the January 11 attack in the Chabad
Bronnaya synagogue, the Sova Center for Information and Analysis pointed
out that opinion is divided in Russia as to whether suspect Aleksandr
Koptsev is "a convinced member of a nationalist gang or a mentally
unstable individual (his parents, naturally, insist on the latter)."
